Drunkard
I
am a drunkard
intoxicated on the sweet nectar of the Divine
wed to a state where there is no division.
I am one with my Beloved.
Scorned for my lack of sobriety,
I resist all efforts to reform me.
Why should I leave my drunken state
for the sleepy pleasures of life?
I would sooner run naked through the fields,
my heart soaring like a hawk
through silken skies
of silent, empty mind
giddy in my freedom.
Call me drunkard!
I am happy to be known
by my crazed absorption,
this exalted intoxication
on the sweetest of nectars,
the sweetness of love itself.
