Issues I Work With
I work with adults in individual therapy, occasionally bringing in a significant other, like a family member or partner. Most of my work falls into the following categories:
Most of my work relates to patterns that begin in one’s family of origin. While this includes neglect and abuse, there are of course many subtle formative influences as well.
Many of my clients have come to me after reading The Emotionally Absent Mother. All parents fail their children occasionally, but when many of our basic needs aren’t met, we end up with deficits. If you are ready to process your pain and take responsibility for filling in what was missing, I may be able to help.
Everyday Suffering and Growth Pains
Life is a tumbler that polishes us, and in the process we get thrown around plenty. We lose a job, get sick, have a relationship fall apart, wonder who we are and where we’re going next—this is the stuff of life. As a therapist, this is the stuff I work with.
Yet even periods of relative calm can prompt sometimes painful questioning and longing for more. We are constantly outgrowing the person we have been. It’s helpful to have allies in this process, as often those who are closest can feel threatened by our changes. I can help you stay true to your deepest heart’s longings and your own precious unfoldment.
